Amy is a graduate of the University of North Texas’ College of Visual Arts and Design with a BFA in Apparel Design. She is currently working at NASA’s Johnson Space Center Softgoods Lab, as a designer and manager of the team. She worked previously in the fashion industry in Dallas as an apparel designer and marketing specialist before making the leap to aerospace.
At the University of North Texas, she was awarded first place for the Most Marketable Designs during Artwear 2018. At NASA, she was nominated for a group Stellar Award with the Rotary National Awards for Space Achievement (RNASA) for her contributions to the Small Emergency Mask Project Team. She was recognized for her exemplary contribution to the Crew and Thermal Systems Division for successfully completing the SpaceX Polaris Dawn Decompression Risk Characterization. The Software, Robotics, and Simulation Division recognized her for inspiring dedication, teamwork, and leadership skills in the effort to deliver hardware in VIPER’s critical path. She has also received the following Engineering Department Merit awards:
EVA80 team: “in recognition of collaborating with NASA customers and outside vendors to create solutions that exceeded expectations on multiple occasions. The team provided support for the water in helmet issue, created a plan for hardware modification, and delivered on various tasks ranging form rapid creation of 3D models for investigation analysis to the creation of mitigation hardware and test equipment.”
SCALPSS: “for delicately stitching around cluttered SCALPSS and lander hardware during the blanket build and integration of the SCALPSS 1.1 flight MLI onto the Firefly lander.”
